I truly don't know; I got the pic off someone's blog. but cats like boxes and such, I suppose he/she was up on the counter and someone had left the microwave door open.

I don't want my cat in anything that would potentially cook her. Poor kitty. 
My cat does love bags though. Paper, plastic, cloth, if there is a bag within her reach she will be in it. And boxes too.

plus since I have two cats when one is in a bag or box, the other is outside and mayhem usually ensues.

the paper bag thing is completely true. i like the big brown bags with handles so that when my sister's cat goes in the bag, you instantly have KITTY BAG and can tote it round the kitchen.
