Hey Guys,

here it is, finally I'm posting something. I've been a "silent reader" of this forum for a long time and at last I finished a mix I'm not completely ashamed of. And not only one mix, but a full length album. It is intended as a free-to-download project.

I'm looking for a vocalist (as well as guest solos & general feedback) for my doomish/thrashy Death Metal Project. Though i'm open to different timbres, something Martin van Drunen like comes to my mind. The project is called Wylouw and is a mixture of Bolt Thrower/Hail of Bullets and general Thrash with a modern sounding production.

All of the titles are just worktitles, you may change them according to your lyrical interest. There aren't any lyrics, except of one Track (Death be my guide), but even in that track it isn't a must. If you got something better, i'd gladly take that. If it is possible I'd prefer some lyrics dealing with War, pretty much like Hail of Bullets, or (lovecraftian) Madness.

Most of the songs have a kinda clear verse and a clear Refrain... and some madness around them. Sing on whatever you feel. If you would like to have more detailed instructions, PM me, and I will give them.

If you are interested please PM me or mail me directly via >>> furex {at] gmx.de <<< (I can provide you with the raw unmastered wav files, if you like)

Why could this be interesting for you?

Obviously singing a full length album is kinda asking for a lot. Since this project will be given away for free online, I don't have a budget and I can't pay anyone. Sorry, I know, a lot of people lost interest at that point. But actually I *have* something to offer, besides fun making good music. Since the whole purpose of this thing is to generate popularity, one could think of it as a free ad-campaign. I try to send copies of track to as much people as possible to generate reviews. Also, I'm thinking about paying facebook advertising. I know, not much, but keep in mind... it IS actually a freebie thing.

At last, I designed a webpage as well as the CD-Cover Artwork to help pushing the project. And I hope it somehow shows my initative in there.

You can access the WIP Homepage (just showing the artwork, nothing else works, but at least it centers with the divs) here:

Keep in mind I'm getting a "real" (paid) domain, as soon as the album is finished.

Concering the mix:

Ok, I know this isn't the greatest mix. I know that there are some low end issues, but I'm pretty certain that I can't solve them unless i get new monitors (I mix with ITB, considering the switch to adam a7 at the end of the year maybe); I just can't adequately judge the low frequencies. It's 'mastered' (yeah, not really mastered, but more my humble try) at a volume that's kinda like the last BT Album. I'd like to keep it that way, but if the majority says that there are too much problems with it (clipping, pumping) I will lower the volume to some extent. This far, I'm pretty happy how it turned out. (except for Static Warfare with the noticiable pumping... I don't know why i it's there... i gladly take any advice)

Keep in mind that most of the files are missing the solos. If I don't succeed in getting a few solos or convincing my guitarist friends to play some, I will do them on my own, which obviously isn't the best thing ^_^. But I sort that out, when I know about the vocalist status.

The orchestral stuff isn't really mixed nor is it really mastered. I just boosted the loudness and the projects are all kinda old. I will definitly fiddle with them some more, but I guess they are irrelevant for my intention of looking for a vocalist ;)

Now to the technical stuff:

Quad Guitars, panned L (LePou LeGion)/R70(-1db, TSX50) - R(LePou LeGion)/L70(-1db, TSX50) as usual
Bass:
1. B.O.D. + Compressor (Bass)
2. B.O.D. + Compressor (Grit)
3. NoAmp (Dist)
All in one subgroup, with a bunch of effects, mainly again compressing/limiting the signal and some eq.
Drums are Metal Machine + ÜberKit for Snare (mixed 70%) and kick (90%).

Guitar was a Schecter Damien 6 7-String, with EMG HZ, tuned to A.

Bass was a Ibanez SD-GR Soundgear 5-string, tuned to A.

Guitars were obviously edited to hell and back, since I'm not that of a great guitarist and also have some latency problems (none of the usual easy to fix stuff... something really weird and complex).

DAW was Cubase 5, Interface Profire 2626.

Mastering was done with iOzone5.

Thanks guys for your attention and overall the great source of information and inspiration!

EDIT: Sorry, but it seems some weird echo effect is going on in Fear (last song I exported) I don't know what it is, but I'm dealing with it as soon as i have time.

Cheers

Great songs man!
I don't like the drum sound but it fits quite well the ensemble. Also some compression issues. I dig the guitars/bass... very 'a la Tagtgren' \m/

@Heabow: Glad you dig the songs! Regarding Drums, I'm quite comforable with the Kick and Snare (Snare a bit less), but i will definitly go for real cymbals if i do another album. I think that's the part which contributes a lot to the artificalness. Anyway, I still think it's decent. You're also absolutely right about the compression issues - I will definitly have another look at the mastering if i got the vox.

@thefalloftheheretic: Cool! Do you mind doing a quick sample (only like 10-30 seconds) over one track? I mean something that doesn't take long.

You're more geared towards Black Metal, are you? I listened to your Atmospheric Black Metal Projekt, which is neat, but a different style and the vox are really low on volume with a lot of reverb. That isn't a problem per se, but i would like to know if it "works" (dryer) on that context.

Anyway, I greatly appreciate your help, mate!

EDIT: Ah, and I just realized that Track #9 is missing, lol. Sorry about that.

Here it is, Wrath, Track 9:
http://www.box.com/s/c321a3df0af30b30406e

(actually the most doomish song i guess)

Cheers,
Furex

Just fixed the strange echo thingie in Fear. Sorry about that, Gtrs were routed through the Acc-Gtrs bus (d'oh!)

If you mean the Drum Midi (Not GM, but MM Drummap!), yes, I have those. If you mean something like tabs, sorry, i haven't made any. If you need one for a solo or something I could provide you with one. Just drop me a message if that's the case.

Cheers,
Furex

Cool songs mab. I have a damien 7 string with EMG's too. Would be awesome to collab on a song. I'm not really a lead vocalist tho, I do mostly only background vox/growls.
