Dee Snider says that he has conducted his personal life in a "completely opposite" way to how the members of MÖTLEY CRÜE have. Snider made the comment while responding to a fan on Twitter about CRÜE's recently released biopic, "The Dirt", which has been described by one critic as "a total time capsule from an era long before" the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment of women. Asked by a fan on Twitter what he thought of "The Dirt", Snider said: "I watched the movie last night. Let's just say that while I know & like the guys in MC, I have lived & conducted my personal life completely opposite of them. This is not a judgement, it is my choice. But I chose my path because I didn't see the one they were on as righteous." Pressed about whether he actually liked "The Dirt", Snider replied: "Very hard for me to view any of these bio-pics fairly. I know too much of the behind the scenes and truths. Same went for Bohemian Rhapsody. I couldn't watch it objectively." Although MÖTLEY CRÜE was one of the biggest bands of the 1980s, shifting millions of records with its unique brand of glam metal, the band will be remembered more for its exploits off stage, including jaw-dropping groupie stories, many of which are covered in CRÜE's 2001 memoir "The Dirt" and Netflix's adaptation of the same name. In a 2015 interview with The Globe And Mail, Snider said that he "was lucky enough to avoid" the "whole rock and roll lifestyle" at the height of TWISTED SISTER's success. "I have the sort of personality where I like to be in control, so drugs and being drunk don't really appeal to me," he said. "I am also obsessive, so I knew I was never going to be the guy who just had a couple of drinks. With the sex part, I met my wife when I was young and I am so thankful that I realized the value of this incredible woman. I'm not saying I didn't come close to screwing it up. I may have avoided the sex, drugs and alcohol, but I definitely fell into the whole megalomaniac rock-star thing. I was the most important person in the world and everything I did was right. Eventually I found the cure for that. It was called grunge," referring to the rise of the "Seattle sound" in the early 1990s, which forced most heavy metal and hard rock bands off the radio and MTV, with album and tour sales plummeting. Dee is currently playing shows in support of his latest solo album, "For The Love Of Metal", which was released last July via Napalm Records.
