FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Heaven and Hell Records find Killer Khan

Towards the end of the 20th Century heavy metal in the U.S. seemed to be in a decline. Still there were countless bands across the country producing quality work. However due to the changing landscape by mainly the internet revolution; many of the bands of the 1990s would be lost despite all of their best DIY efforts. There was a new frontier being discovered and many did what they could to survive into the next millennium but sadly they would disappear from what “underground” scene there was at the time. Now in recent years the metal community all the world is starting to look into this seemingly lost period in U.S. metal history.

Little is known about this mysterious band that in the mid-90s that emerged on to the scene under the name Holy Moses and released two self-released albums ‘Latitude Zero’ (’95) and ‘Rock n Roll Forever’ (’96) before changing their name to Killer Khan. They would go on to release the third album ‘Kill Devil Hills’ in 1999 and re-release ‘Rock n’ Roll Forever’ in 2001 under the new moniker. Throughout this time the band received a fair amount of attention worldwide in the press with several positive reviews and extensive interviews in such magazines as Germany’s ‘That’s Metal’ and Japan ‘Burnn!’, among others.

“A weird sound, a great sound, something like old Savatage crossed with Cathedral with a bunch of weirdo indie moves. It’s so cool that metal freaks like this exist and just crank the stuff” – Martin Popoff (BW&BK)

After eight years of seeking out the band and the man known as Killer Khan (aka Killen Khan) Heaven and Hell Records have located him tucked away deep in the mountains of Western North Carolina. There he has been for more than a decade, quietly waiting for the right time to resurface onto the underground scene.

Note; this is the original and not the upcoming re-issue

In June of this year a re-issue of the Kill Khan’s debut ‘Kill Devil Hills’ is scheduled for release. The re-issue will include new artwork, bonus tracks, and will be re-mastered by Jamie King at The Basement Studios. This CD release will be limited to 500.

I always loved that song even if it is a blatant rip off of "Desert Plains". Unfortunately, the rest of the album was a big disappointment to me. However, the real mystery here is why reissue a CD when the original is still easily and cheaply obtainable?

However, the real mystery here is why reissue a CD when the original is still easily and cheaply obtainable?

For a few reasons; there will be bonus tracks, new artwork, and re-mastering that makes it sound a lot better. So mystery solved. I can find the first pressing of the disc yes but it is listed ranging from $16 to $80 in various places. As for albums being easy to get; man most albums that are re-issued the earlier pressings are easy to get, well not really difficult.
Wait, do I need to explain myself? No I don't think I do. HAHA
The Priest rip-off I don't here it, I don't hear a song on that album that sounds like "Desert Plains", but if there is one is that necessarily a band thing? Come on man, everyone of us could wipe out our metal CD collections getting rid of every band that has "ripped-off" Judas Priest. I mean you could just narrow it down to a handful of bands and not really need any other metal because it is all re-worked Priest, Sabbath, Maiden - get the idea?
