Defiance's doug Harrington R.I.P.

I'm really tore up over this!!Some of you die hards may remember bay area thrashers Defiance who put out 3 albums on Road Runner records in the late 80's & early 90's.They're 2nd & most successful album "Void Terra Firma" fetaured a cover of Iron Maidens "Killers".Vocalist Steev Esquivel made a name for himself with his own band Skinlab later on.
Doug Harrington the guitarist & an old friend of mine died this past Tuesday after a year long battle with cancer.he kept it secret & this was just announced.The former members of Defiance had been working on a reunion album for the past year.I had many o' party experiences & Metal gigs with Doug.His wife was a good friend of mine too.I remember when they first started dating back in 1990.I'm stunned I just got this news a little while ago.

I'm very sorry to hear that Danny. The fact he kept his illness secret is hard to understand. The passing of a friend is hard enough but worse when out of the blue like that.

Wow...I am blown away....
I remember Doug, and the rest of the band from a time that they used to hang out at Paradigm studios in Oakland. At the time, Steve and I had some of the same...uh...habits...and we all got to know each other rather well. I had run thier fog machine for them at the Paradigm show...Wow....The last I saw of Doug was backstage at a metallica show in....I think it was 92...We had snake pit passes and ran into him there...
I am sorry to hear of his passing, and my thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family and friends.

Oh Yeah I remmeber thos Paradigm parties!!Defiance actually headlined one on my birthday.Actually it was 4 of us sharing the B-day but it was cool.Tons of kegs & bands playing their weekly.The place to go after gigs at the Omni.Alot of homeless musicians lived in those permanent lock out rehearsal rooms.Lotsa Tweakers occupying that place!
