i do recall seeing deicide open for morbid angel a year or two ago, and glenn did sound a bit raspy on everything. also, shitty. but that's more intrinsic in the music.
some of the old deicide stuff actually was rhythmically interesting, like from legion or once upon the cross, but after that they got really stupid.
as far as hate eternal, i've only heard a few songs live, and thought they were decent- the 3-piece worked well, in that his solos were well placed in the mix (since there was no 2nd guitar). but haven't really listened to their music past the 1st album. i like erik's playing, tho. some of the alas stuff is good, but most of it i can't stand because of the female vocalist having no soul.
