Deliverance/Notes about solos

I'm more of a riff guy, i try to keep the riffs more interesting than the solo that way the solo is more of an accent than anything.

Hey that's a cool idea. Make it embellish a rhythm riff. Kinda lika Opeth does on GR...? Kinda... :)
Because the first times I heard GR I often missed the solos :)

hello to all.
(about the main topic) I also like the whole deliverance as indeed it is very raw. I'd be happy if I can dial such sound. However regarding creation of solo.. sometimes I like to infuse Kerry King "scale" :p yet basicaly in most of them has to be some kind of idea/concept and I guess also some scale behind it to make it sound right.

Cheers.

I was listening and enjoying Deliverance (damn good album - so raw and
uncensored) when I started thinking about solos. The solos on Deliverance
kickass imo.

I think creating own solos are a facinating thing. I like mine to have a
little "theme" of some sort. Themes can be a concept-thing or mere guidelines:

- start off low and climb up the fretboard (haven't heard that one before :Smug:)
- string-skipping to create a Eric Johnson-feel
- long notes and extremely moody (a lot of keytones :))
- incorporate the lowest and highest notes on the fretboard in some way.

I try to come up with new themes for every solo. My latest one was kinda
like the eighties' rock solos (but don't ask me why and shit :loco:).

How do you guys make solos?

Like:
Opeth - Nice melodies and cool passages with limited speed runs
DragonForce - Breath-taking speed runs
David Gilmour - Soulful bendings and melodies
Jimi Hendrix - Experimental and cool
Robin Trower - Bluesy (without dampening? :))

OMG...I can't believe this thread.

So...post some of your over analyzed solos.

Well, sulk alone - cause I for one "believe" this thread - this is an excellent tread!

My solos are made from intuition; and hard practice (... many, many takes!) ... I know instantly what to play, but I'm not as good a player to execute at once.

All I'm getting at, my way of soloing is: use your heart and emotions and just let any solo rip that you can imagine. Thinking and planning is good too, but not necessary if you're inspired enough.

(I love guitar solos!)
