Metal certainly used to resonate with me more. I hardly dislike the genre, some of my favourite bands remain metal ones. I suppose other genres just mean more to me now, as silly as that sounds.
Not really. There are a number of albums and artists that have become entirely necessary to me as a lover of music. Such that were I forced to choose between them and my most beloved metal, these others would still take precedent.
I can associate with that. My most cherished records are all from non-metal genres. Zevon, Curtis, Morrissey and others speak more to me and my desperate understanding of the human condition than Cannibal Corpse ever have.
That might be it. Even the most impressive range of certain metal albums haven't quite hit me with the same dimensions of The Cranes "Loved," Coltrane's "Love Supreme," or pretty much anything ever by Leonard Cohen.
To quote Neil from 'The Young Ones': "*sigh* I'm not going to say anything because no one ever listens to me anyway. I might as well be a Leonard Cohen record."
I kid, though. 'Songs From A Room' is a personal favourite.
Would you happen to know of any cheap hostels I could book in Edinburgh? My friend is being buried there on Saturday, , so it's pretty short notice. Any reccommendations would be heartily appreciated.
Sorry, I've not yet heard about the relocation of our Edinburgh gig. Won't be long, I'm sure.
I really don't have a clue, I'm afraid. The bottom link that Will gave seems quite reasonable, mainly because I recognise the buildings. I've never stayed in any of them though, so I couldn't say. I'd offer you some floor space, but I'm a bit short, given three flatmates, one of their brothers and my current squeeze.
