If you don't like this song, you don't like metal. I know Crimson_Velvet, Tranquillian, fotmbm, Lutz and anyone else with decent taste will agree with me here, but all you others, PLEASE download this song:

SO HAS MY TRUTH BEEN TESTED BY TIME
RECKONED BY AGE, TRIALED BY FIRE
WAS THERE WISDOM IN WHAT I BELIEVED
OR WAS IT GHOSTS BY WHOM I WAS DECEIVED?

THE WORLD HAS TAUGHT ME MANY THINGS
THE WORLD WE ARE LOOKING FOR
WELL, IT ISN'T COMING SOON

SO WHAT HAVE I FOUND ON THIS TRIAL
THE SCATTERED REMAINS OF THOSE WHO HAVE FAILED

AND I CLIMBED ONE MOUNTAINSIDE TO FIND YET ANOTHER
AN ENDLESS SEA OF DARKNESS FOR US YET TO DISCOVER

AND MY SOUL PINES FOR REST
IN THE HEAT OF THE FLAMES I SO DESIRE
IT BURNS, THE HEAT OF THE FIRE

Pretty good, and very dissimlar from Cold steel, which is the only other stuff of theirs that I've come across, and which sucked btw. Are the rest of record it's on in the same vein?

Maybe you need to take a second listen to "Cold Steel", "The Calling" for instance is very much in the same vein. Not all of the Terror Abraxas EP (which this is from) is in the same epic vein (2 out of 5 songs,) but it all rules nevertheless... Highly recommended

That song was ok, listenable at least but didn't strike me as being fantabulous or anything :/ but then again i'm on a bit of a doom kick.

You mean Dissection asskickedness Storm of the Light's Bane or nu Dissection Maha Gayli.

Destroyer 666 reminds me of Morrigan which is a good thing.

Vocals and drumfills mainly, some of the riff structure. I don't know Morrigan but I suppose there was a bit of Blood Fire Death in there.

Either way, I liked it. Much better than their stupid name would lead one to believe.

haha, yeah, I didn't check out the band for a long time because of the dumb band name and the name of the lead guy, K.K. Warslut (which actually sounds pretty cool, tbh...or something)

I will listen to this post haste.

I have "Phoenix Rising" which for a while I thought was average....and then one day, it ripped my head off.

It's interesting these comparisons people are making - I recently mentioned that D666 sound like a DM version of Primordial. Does anyone else hear that? (Or at least on Phoenix Rising)?

I now like their name but for a long time I, too, thought they were generic norsecore or shitty death metal or something

DUUUUDE - Destroyer 666 is the fucking coolest name EVAR!!

By the way, I was reading some metal article the other day about some deep underground death metal band from the 80's called Darth Vader's Church (or DVC). I can't even find this band on Google, but what a cool band name!! :tickled:

EDIT: I did just find it on google..." DVC was an odd Florida death metal band. They sounded like no other Florida band and came over as a tad noisier and more underground. The band toured Europe with Paradise Lost, Unleashed and Protector during April of 92 and also become the winner of Tampa Bay Metal Awards"

DVC is supposed to be the shit. I'll do some more checking....
