Diablo - Icaros

I got an email from Marco saying:

"we're always using Mesa Triaxis in the studio. Guitars were recorded with Triaxis on all our albums except on the first one when we used Marshall valvestate. We use POD in our home studios when making demos and sometimes also for live shows if we can't get our Mesa gear on stage for some reason."

Perhaps it was Rainer that told me that they used the POD on their album. He has a little more of a language barrier than Marco.

Its just odd because when I asked what amps were used on the recording I was told they used the POD. And I even specifically asked what effects he used for Delay and stuff on the recording and he said all the effects came from the POD.

Oh well.

Clear now.

I've been in Tampere last week, I grabbed the cd and a shirt. So nice.

But I forgot that the studio was actually there :(
I could have at least try to step in to say hello ahahahha

Top riffing, good soloing. A fresh sounding scandivian metal according to me.

The recording was done in :

Fantom Studio
Aurinkokuja 9
FIN-33420 Tampere

Any fins know about that studio ?

Seems like they are not distributed outside finland ?! And very famous inside Finland.

My band's (Aberrant Vascular) two earlier demos were done there, and we're planning on recording our next demo there too. I wasn't in the band at the time those demos were done though.

I find Diablo quite boring to be honest. I liked Eternium (or whatever it was, it was the one that had Read My Scars on it anyway) when it came out, but I got bored with it rather fast. I saw them live too back then, but the show was quite bland. The drummer is pretty good though.

I really like their songs, but what amazes me more is their production. Everything sound beautifully huge, clear and heavy in Eternium and Icaros. Unfortunately it's lmost impossible to find their CDs around here, so I can't tell if Mimic 47 (the album before Icaros) is overly compressed and clipped or it's only a very bad ripping job.
Although some songs may sound very alike sometimes, their style is very distinguishable (at least to me) and that's another plus.

I still think its sad this band has grown so slow.

Their first 3 albums are all amazing.

The rest have slightly changed but still have some good stuff.

I wish they could have gotten more world wide credit for what they have already put out.

wait wait...are they the "diablo" who made that FUCKING AWESOME cover of dancing queen?

My respect towards Diablo instantly grew exponentially when I saw Rainer and Adolf as guests on a late night text message TV chat. Rainer was so wasted he tried to score the hostess and eventually passed out on the studio floor. The man was not to be seen, but his snoring was rather clearly heard. That's the way a-ha a-ha I like it!
