According to The Pulse Of Radio, a new book about the band ALICE IN CHAINS reportedly reveals, of all things, some new details surrounding the 1994 death of NIRVANA frontman Kurt Cobain. The book, titled "Alice In Chains: The Untold Story", claims that Cobain's wife Courtney Love reached out to ALICE IN CHAINS frontman Layne Staley (pictured) after her husband's death to see if Staley was with the NIRVANA frontman in the days leading up to Cobain's suicide.Apparently Love was initially unconvinced that her husband's death was a suicide and wanted to see if Staley, with whom Cobain had been known to do heroin, knew anything that could aid the investigation. An excerpt from the book reads: "A few weeks after Cobain's death, Jim Elmer [Layne Staley's stepfather] got a call from Courtney Love… According to Elmer, 'She was looking for Layne because she knew Layne and Kurt were friends and wanted to find out what happened the last few days, that she intimated to me that she was not happy with the outcome that it was a suicide.'"The excerpt continues: "Love was probably assuming that because Cobain and Layne ran in the same social circles — musicians, drug users, and drug dealers — he might have seen Cobain or have some knowledge of his final days. Whether Layne saw Cobain during his final days is not known, but there is evidence of at least one mutual drug connection."According to Staley's stepfather, Staley himself "never thought Kurt would take his own life."Interest in Cobain's life and death has been sparked recently by the acclaimed HBO documentary "Montage Of Heck" as well as the conspiracy theory film "Soaked In Bleach", which claims that Cobain was murdered."Alice In Chains: The Untold Story", written by David De Sola, arrives in stores on Tuesday (August 4).
