Sure thing. But you make a mistake, you carry the consequences. It's called "being responsible".

"Being responsible" is evaluating the entire situation, and making the best decision to fit that situation. Sadly, we don't really teach people to do that in the U.S. - in fact, we promote ignorance in many cases, which is more likely to lead to a dogmatic, rather than rational, decision.

Making a knee-jerk comment like "you make a mistake, you carry the consequences", and expecting your blanket analysis to fit all situations is the sort of thing that I think is irresponsible, but maybe that's just me.

I agree that you shouldn't keep a child if you're not sure you can raise it well and good. However, there's plenty of couples who can't have children and who would give your little one all the loving it deserves. Surely giving the kid up for adoption is a much more humane solution than just getting rid of it?

We've now hit the "theological" barrier of this argument. I don't see anything "inhumane" about aborting a fetus during it's early stages, although the psychological issues involved make prevention a much more desirable path.

Nothing theological about it. I'm agnostic, so I put very little stock in theology. True, aborting a foetus in its early stages isn't inhumane but we all know unwanted pregnancies are often discovered too late, so that the fetus has already gestated quite a bit.

I'd point to those issues as having the same root cause - a lack of education, and societal stigma surrounding the whole process. (i.e., "You're pregnant!? And not married!? You slut! Your life is over!")

It's not as bad as it used to be, in some places. In the U.S., it's worse.

True. Over here in Europe things are more liberated. No one really raises an eyebrow anymore at the concept of single moms or parents who aren't married.

Let me tell you a story about a high school in seattle (i'm not going to it thank god or whoever...).
At the end of last year 35% of the girls in that freshmen class were diagnosed with gonorea. 8 freshmen girls had abortions in one quarter.
WHAT THE FUCK?

The thing i just wrote above is very true! WTF, people should be educated about protection and birth control. I just don't get it what is wrong with those people.

that was kinda offtopic....
In europe, romania more specifically, where i used to live until september05 things are this: nobody normal gives a fuck if you are pregnant and not married. There are a few old religious people that will raise and eyebrow but that is it they give up and shit, they don't ruin your reputation.
I mean in romania if you get pregnant and you live with your parrents you are really screwed especially if you are in high school and then your parrents take you to the hospital and get you and abortion, but these cases are very rare in there, underage abortions. Teenagers there don't even consider not using birth control which i guess it is a good thing.

I kinda realized that the worst the life conditions are somewhere the more responsible the people are in there. I mean when you know that your parrents barely afford to give you a good life and have everything you want, guitars, amps, computers and shit with 6euros/hour you realize that they cannot afford having a another baby to take care of so i guess that is one of the reasons some people are more responsible in there.
my 2 cents

 the way our contries heading with all this christian bullshit (and the government loving to get as much money out of you as possible) i wouldnt doubt if one day we see that you need a "sex license" for you and your partner "wanna have sex? you got 45 dollars on you? i need to register you as a partner real quick"

The Last Knight of Flanders is the story of the Flemish volunteers of Germany's famed Waffen-SS, told by those who were there. The book centers around Remy Schrijnen, the only Flemish volunteer to win the heralded bravery award, the Knight's Cross to the Iron Cross. The book presents the varying viewpoints of the war as told through the eyes of Schrijnen and those who surrounded him. From enlisted men to officers - those who were there tell it like it was. Since 1830, Belgium has been a country consisting primarily of two peoples: the French-speaking Walloons and the Dutch-speaking Flemings. Despite the fact that they are the minority in regards to total population, the Walloons have dominated and ruled the Belgian government since the very beginning, which has prevented prosperity for the Flemings. The Flemish volunteers sided with the Germans in World War II in hopes that the blessings of the victor would gain them independence within their native country.

If Ann Coulter choked to death on sperm, I would throw a party.

Seriously, she must be one of the most hateful people in the world. Five minutes of listening to her deluded, spite-ridden rhetoric is enough to make me a hardcore Second Amendment supporter for just as long as it takes to get a gun and shoot her in the face. And I seriously don't believe in that sort of thing, but she has this unique power to enrage me beyond all reason. It's this contagious, cancerous malice that completely ruins my cool and collected demeanor.

Vile woman. Vile.
