I was trying my ISA 828 with different impedances with a 57 on mesa cab.
The lower impedances tended to pull a bit of fizz and low rumble.
I love the sound of my API A2D but wanted to try it at lower impedance.

The API has 1.5K input impedance so I opened an XLR cable and put a 1K resistor between pins 2 and 3 of the male connector. This puts the resistor in parallel making an impedance of 600.

I can use this cable from now on to drop the impedance of the API to 600 so thats handy.
Here are clips of Jeff's Rose of Sharyn DI pack (24 bit Wavs).

First is 1.5KOhm which is the API's normal impedance.

The second is with the modded cable giving 600Ohm impedance.

The difference is subtle but I think the lower impedance gives a bit more mid focus with less fizz and rumble.

I think the second one sounds better. I have done experiments with my ISA one with variable impedance on a micd guitarcab too. My results were that higher impedance = brighter/fizzier but also tighter bottom-end and lowmids. Lower impedance = smoother top-end but looser bottom and lowmids. I can hear the same thing in your recordings as well, but despite slightly looser bottom I still think the lower impedance sounds better.
