We just got digital Foxtel. Anyone else got it? It doesn't seem to be that much different to old school Foxtel. I got bored with the multiscreen news thing pretty quick - haven't tried choosing angles on sporting things yet. Apparently there are games on there too... haven't tried those either.

On the down side you now have to purchase movies at $6 a pop. They still have a heap of movie channels, but you know that all the good movies will go on pay per view. Also I have re-learn all the channel numbers. There is a TV guide thing on there so you don't have to remember but I can't be bothered with it. I just like to push the numbers and go straight to my favourite channels.

It was suppose to be a revolution in TV... bah!

I wish I watched enough TV to justify getting Foxtel, but I just can't.

I got it a while ago (a couple of days before the official launch). Apart from the fancy Sky News Active thing, which I find quite handy except when they don't update their news all day, and the Fox Sports Active (only watched the NRL one so far - gets kind of old kind of fast) it's nothing special. But it's TV, so it's cool.

We had Austar for the last couple of years.

Then they announced digital.

And I noticed that what we watched wasn't what I was used to watching....i.e. it was all repeats of repeats.

The inlaws went digital, and opted for the everything package ('cept porn, you never want to think of inlaws, porn and sex).

All the shows that I liked were in the extras.

So we cancelled the subscription.

Austar suggested that we could have all the shows that I like for another $36/month (over the $48/month).

I laughed, and can now buy one more case of Coopers per month than I did before.

There are a number of letters in the Green Guide in yesterday's Age bagging the fuck out of Foxtel Digital. That followed an article bagging it last week.

I'm in the Sydo camp. I wish I could justify getting it, but can't for the amount of TV I watch. If I could get Fox Sports, World Movies and the Footy Channel for $20 a month or less, then I'd do that. Otherwise there's no point.

I got digital a few days before the launch of it. Its alright, VH1 has a few good things on and MTV has Jackass, Wildboyz and Viva La Bam which are a fucking laugh. But all in all, it has been pretty disapointing considering they were hyping this for ages.

A revolution in TV is a contradiction in terms. There hasn't been anything revolutionary about television since it went colour. When the digital thing was first raised, everyone except the government said it was a scam, and it is.

The revolution in T.V. will come when the general public find out that the Federal Government has sold off the rights to all of the current free to air bandwidths to mobile phone companies (due to take effect in a few years), which will force everyone to use digital.

Yep,
just most of the people I know don't realise that it was done, and just stare blankly when I tell them.
