Hello all,
I've had a 2112 since about 99'. I have other amps (ada mp1, epi valve jr, deville 4-10) but I keep coming back to this one.
I recently bought a pod xt pro and was originally thinking I'd sell off my 2112... but I've been comparing quite a bit and there's no way.
The pod has some real nice features... love the ability to record dry + wet, love the idea of picking and amp and spinning through the fx w one knob, the patch editor is super fast by comparrison, the cab sims are certainly better than what's available inside the digitech, got the model packs and even some good metal sounds can be heard.
Some great sounds in there...but then I tossed some new tubes in the 2112 and.... well, I forgot how amazing it is. Think I'll be selling the ada instead... after all 3 pre-amps is just gluttony!
One thing that stands out is that the pod seems to have some ugly clipping for some settings. The digitech - well you can crank everything on it and as long as you back off the trim on your mixer it sounds great. Loads of gain, can setup any param to react to dynamics or lfo... any order on fx you want although the preamp stays out front.
Anywho, enough about my newly rekindled man crush on my 2112/2120...
Finding patches for this thing is difficult these days. I came here because - even though I wouldn't consider myself a metal guy anymore - I deeply respect this community for it's ability to steer me towards great tone. Was hoping to find some 'ultimate metal' presets for my digi like I did find for my pod pro. Unfortunately - nada.
Anywho, for those who are enthusiasts - perhaps you'll guide me to something I haven't downloaded yet!
I have been using rpedit and while it isn't the most stable - it does work on win 7 (my 2112 is upgraded to the 2120). The downside being that it is setup to send single patches and it can take a long time to get multiple patches loaded to the 2120.
few tips:
1) If you happen to have cakewalk, or another prog with sysex capability... you can send/recieve a bulk dump - without dealing w single patches.
2) the original 2112 patches were lost when I upgraded. I have some of them I've managed to dig up off the net... but I'd love to find all 66 originals!
(make sure to backup all your patches before sending a bulk dump as it will replace everything user)
So here for your enjoyment I would like to present a number of bulk dumps (which CAN be SENT to the 2120 via rpedit bulk dump, receiving breaks them into individual patches).
Note that a few of these patches were setup to use my ada mp1/halfler t3 so they might not be what you'd expect.
original 2112 patches: note that some of these are not actually the correct originals but I highly recommend 'big' and or 'hot stuff'

a number of 'custom' amp simulations, other patches...
