Dillinger Escape Plan kind of band. Help with mix.

Everything is sounding pretty good already! Well done. I think you need to compress and overdrive those vocals a bit to add the Dillinger vibe to them. To me it sounds like you compressed them sparingly. :) You can do more than that. You can boost some 3K and 8Kish frequencies for those vocals also. It'll make them a bit more hifi maybe.

Being a big fan of DEP style music, this is rocking man :headbang:

May be there is not enough dynamic control with the vocals but I also think may be there is too much ambience surrounding them? Possibly. And is there reverb on all the instruments? Or was it recorded in a very live room?

Also, not necessarily related to the vox, but there some abrupt edits. For example, something funky happening at :49.

But yea, I gota say there elements of DEP but I also hear ETID (another favorite of mine) in there as well. Loving it...would be fun to mix this

Well drums, bass and vocals were recorded at a nice studio and the guitars are just Di's and were tracked at the drummers home so i dont really know about the whole ambience thing. only the drums and vocals have a bit of reverb. and yeah i can see what you mean about the etid thing. its actually one of their favorite bands so lots of influence from them.

thanks for the suggestions, ill work on em and upload a new mix later.

perfect!!!! just overdrive the vox, compress them WAYYYY fucking more (which will bring more of the natural room out that the dude recorded in) and you'll be set.

as it is now the vocals are just a bit spitty for me.

i'd LOVEEEEEE to produce a band like this. holy fuck.

this! the vocals need a bit of work, but this is fucking awesome. i'm really into DEP/Architect/Structures like music at the moment.. this hits the nail on the head.

also, the guitars ring out at 1:21 ish, it's sort of out of tune.

one last thing, i'd experiment with the low end of this mix, it seems like you could get more in there (unless this is what you want!)

thanks,

i'd love to have any other band to record :(
