Dimebag Darrell

I liked Cowboys, Vulgar and the one after that one... and i played guitar for years... but i'll be honest Dimebag's playing was overrated when he was alive and even more so after his death... he had good riffs and solo's but he was nothing special or innovative that others before him were ala EVH, RR, etc...

I think he and Pantera are way over rated. If he wasnt shot there would be no hype. What do ya think? Im not a hater its just my opinion.

Pantera had 100 times more hype around them after Vulgar Display was released than when Dime got shot, and rightly so. Why you think they only had hype because he was shot is beyond me. They were massive in the early to mid nineties. When he was shot there was bound to be an outcry of emotion from a whole lot of people, he/they were a huge influence.

Basically, what are you on about.

Never like Pantera and I do consider them highly overrated and worse, responsible for a lot of the mallcore crap that plagues us today.

As for Dimebag I'm not a musician so I can't comment on his skills.

NP: Hammerheart - 'Wanderings In Flames'

Not much of a Pantera fan here. And they were such a huge influence on nu-metal and metalcore - WAY more than At the friggin' Gates.

But I remember Dimebag had a huge and hugely devoted following years before the shooting. There's actually been less hype than I'd have suspected.

FTR, Vinnie Paul is a doof. That column he writes for Revolver is ridiculous.

I do like Pantera yet I do think some people bang on abotu that shooting too much. Posts like this don't help (no offence) cause it reminds people. He was a good guitarist who died in an awful way. End of.

I remember the night that happened, because I am from Columbus and have attended many shows at the Alrosa Villa. :kickass: Loved that bar back in the late 80's early 90's. But trust me more people have been killed or injured there as well. I personaly like Pantera and Damage Plan, but not as much as some. It was a sad, sad night~:waah:
