Well, here you go. I don't know about anyone else but the band with 4 out of 5 original members would be the winner for me. "endorsed" or not they sound great.

WTF is The Last in Line???
Guess I need to read Blabbermouth more to keep up on extremely irrelevant and pointless bands such as this.

Last In Line is actually made up of the original members of the first Dio. Vinny Appice (Sabbath), Jimmy Bain (Rainbow), Vivian Campbell, and Claude Schnell. Their new vocalist is Andy Freeman, who's pretty new, but very good. I wouldn't call that lineup irrelevant OR pointless!

ok, thanks. It does ring a bell now that you mention it.
I do recall Viv doing something like this.

Seriously. why?

After all the trash talking Viv has done about his era in his career with Dio?

I dunno. All this crap is still WAY too soon IMHO, but whatever.......

I guess as metal keeps getting more and more popular, there are a lot of people who have never seen DIO solo live, so their might be some appeal.

I can't fault this as I had no issue seeing a Phil Lynott-less Thin Lizzy a couple years back.......

No it should not be called irrelevant of pointless, it should be called The Last in Line for A Cash Grab.

Exactly............

What actually amazes me, is that Joe Elliot (Sp?) allows Viv to do these hired gun type of tours, considering he thinks Def Leppard was the first everything. LOL....

you really do need to get caught up. Viv released an interview as to why he talking shit on his Dio years. All business and apparently he was lied to and then kicked out of the band. It's typical music business stuff, but if I was him and the stories are true i would have been talking shit on the Dios as well.

That would be me, sadly. I love Dio so hard and I never got to see him, so I'm living in the past by seeing his tribute bands. Doesn't look like Last In Line has too many shows in the US, tho'.

Also, in regards to money, here's Campbell's argument:

http://ultimateclassicrock.com/vivian-campbell-dio-feud/

“I’m not doing this for the money, believe me, I’ve got plenty of money,” he argued. “It’s about the love, the passion for the guitar playing. When I did it in the first place, I didn’t do it for the f—ing money — $100 a week, I don’t think that’s a lot of money, and that’s what I got for doing ‘Holy Diver.’ And that’s pretty much what I’ll get for doing it again, 30 years later.”

And I didn't realize he was also fighting cancer. I imagine that might be something that would lead him toward wanting to relive some of the old days.

Well I doubt it would be a good idea if he came out and, "hey I'm doing it for the money." Of course they will say they don't do it for the f@$Kin money, and people who buy that jazz just prove how stupid and gullible people can be.
Ask any cover band or the tribute band why they do what they do and first they well say, "I really like x band", secondly they will say, I make money doing this." That is because it is for the money.
Hey Viv, why did you and these cats not get together before Dio died and decide to be a band again? Did you suddenly find God, learn forgiveness, or see opportunity? Hate to be so cynical (actually I don't), but I understand supply and demand and that is merely what this is. So be it if that is the case; but no Dio then there is no Dio.
Sure those guys can just be wanting to play together again and that is cool, why not and should they be faulted for that? But is it just going to be a thing of going and playing Dio songs for kids who never got to see Dio? (I don't understand how that could nearly be a substitute) Or do these guys decide to make a new album?
I'm sure somewhere out there in the world there already was a 'tribute" band called Last in Line, now there is going to be some confusion there. HA
Hey let's talk Thin Lizzy now. HA

Ok, fair enough...
Yeah, I agree that he probably is not wondering where his next meal is coming from, touring with Def Leppard...

So Ghost in the Ruins was just a cash-grab....I knew it....sell-out.

I wish!!!! hahahaha.....

I never in my life have defended my involvement in a band as much as I have with GITR. I also didn't know how much animosity many have towards tributes. I do get it though. For me personally, it got me back into playing for the first time after a long time, which is why I joined the band in the first place. It certainly wasnt something I started.

Unlike other tributes, at least Savatage is not a currently active band.
Furthermore, anyone with half a brain cell knows Savatage themselves didn't make any $$$, so to think anyone would do a Sava tribute for $$$ is absurd!
