Unlike other tributes, at least Savatage is not a currently active band.

Dio is active? haha. But yeah Viv has actively stated (while trying not come off as a dickhead) that he doesn't need the money doing this. Def Lep makes bank, so in turn he would too.

See, I have no issue with 4/5 of the band reuniting to play some songs they all wrote. Maybe it shows us how much control Wendy had over the Dio empire that NONE of these guys wanted to play in the his "solo" band anymore, but now that he is gone (RIP) they want to play these songs they all wrote once again.

To me that is the difference in the videos, one is playing their song and the other band is playing a cover.

Also, if I am not mistaken Wendy Dio has not made any statements against The Last In Line has she? Because she knows these guys wrote the songs with Ronnie, so they are theirs just as much as they are his.

Ha, no. My comment was aimed towards the local Maiden, Priest, Megadeth, Metallica, etc, etc tribute bands in each city.

I know this is more than just a "cover" band, given who is involved.

Just in my opinion, it is still WAY too soon for a DIO type of band WITHOUT Dio.

In suburban bars who use talent buyers? More than you would think actually, with flat guarantees. But in general, no. LOL......

As much as most of us on this forum love the band, overall the demand for Savatage isn't there. It would be VERY interesting to see, if it would ever happen which I highly doubt from everything I have heard, what the demand would be.
