I've heard that in some parts of the country people are unfamiliar with "let's get a pie" as refering to pizza....can anyone varify this?

we would say pie at antonions, like if someone calls up for a take out order "how many pies?" but the context is already laid out so it's not confusing.

"ol' crazyface" thought we were weird because we didn't say bubbler! bubbler has got to be near the bottom of silly regionalisms, right down their with "what kind of coke do you want?" in the South.

Not coke....it's "co-cola" and my favourite southern regionalism would have to be referring to watermelons as "negro apples".
