Disillusion - Back to the times of Splender

Have you heard it? Their debut! I didn't pay so much attention at first. Just another ramble of out of place riifs, but then I gave it a second spin. I felt two things...a bit of and a bit of anther opeth clone? or the greatest album of this genre since Images & Words?

Hate to be the spelling Nazi but it is spelled Splendor I do believe. Also it is far from an Opeth clone as the band actually makes use of riffs and significant pace variations. Moreover, the album is quite expansive in scope and execution which cannot really be said about Opeth (i.e. distortion part, clean part, distortion ad nauseum).

I think I may prefer Gloria slightly but yes it is a great album. I also hope the band one day returns to this particular concept to continue the story.

Not really. There were buzzillions of better prog metal albums released since IAW. But it is a very very good album, "Gloria" of course is some musical miles beyond it, in every aspect.

Yeah this one's definitely a grower on me too. I'm still not a huge fan right now but I'm enjoying it more with every listen. I still haven't heard anything from Gloria yet though, the album cover & the negative reactions have been something of a turn-off.

Gloria is great and overall a better album than the debut. The haters are just pissed because the band is actually doing something slightly original with their sound.

Have you even heard it? It's much more metal than electronic, though I will not deny the electro influence in there. Either way, it is better than the debut IMO.
