Hi all,

I've been working on my sci-fi death metal band's first EP. I've never done a production of this scale before so I'm looking to get some feedback on mixing.

We are based in Chicago and are called Biomimic. This tune is called Reptilian Intellect

The following gear was used during tracking of a 5 song EP (only 3 of which turned out decent enough to use)

Interface:
Presonus Firestudio Project

Preamp:
ART Pro Channel Tube

Mics:
SM57 for guitars
ATM89 for vocals
Drums recorded with CAD PRO-7 set

Guitars:
Jackson Japanese Soloist - X2N in the bridge, hotrails in the neck
Jackson US Rhoads with an X2N in the bridge, Air Norton in the neck.

Both Jacksons were run through an Engl Savage 120 through a Splawn Cabinet with V30s

Other guitarist:
Ibanez Destroyer with Duncan Distortion
Ibanez RS Prestige - not sure of the pickups in that one

Both guitars through a Peavey XXX through a really shitty Marshall cabinet. Halfway through tracking we switched to the Splawn.

Bass:
Stock Schecter Diamond 4-string DI

Our Facebook page is: http://www.facebook.com/biomimicband - check us out there and keep up to date if you like what you hear. I should be finished mixing the rest of the EP by 'Next Week' ... :)

Nothing stands out to me as 'bad' but the mix seems to be lacking some sort 'sparkle' to make it stand out. Maybe it needs to be done at the mastering stage?
