I think you'll find net send fails when trying to hit an SP2 or Vista system. Unless the user is stupid enough to re-enable the messenger service.

In one of my CIS classes, me and a classmate turned off two peoples' firewalls and enabled messenger. We then made batch files to net send in a loop and ran about 30 instances of the batch file on each workstation.
Nerd pranks for the win.
