Edit: Is this the same as the difference between super cheap vs super expensive hdmi cables? I know that since video it is transferred in 1's and 0's that no matter the quality, it will either not work AT ALL or its works perfectly.

not really.... Imagine someone shouting 10001110101 to you really fast through fibreglass insulation. if theres barely any fiberglass you'll be able to pick them out perfectly, if theres loads then you wont be able to pick out any of it. somewhere between those extremes you'll get it **mostly** right.

Digital communication is just high voltage (1), low voltage (0), sortof forming a square wave. If there's too much resistance and capacitance then you get a rather quieter and smeared signal which is then hard for the receiver to obtain the original signal perfectly from
