DOD Yngwie Malmsteen Overdrive pedal

Hi guys,

have any of you tried out the DOD YM pedal as a pre-gain pedal, like a TS-9?

its fairly cheap, so i thought it might just do the job?

what are your thoughts on it?

I own one, I havent ever tried a TS9 though so I cant compare but its canny good as long as you own a noise gate like a Boss NS-2. Without it its unplayable. You can get that kinda creamy malmsteen tone out of it. IMHO if your going for his kinda tone this pedal is a must. Its not bad for chunky rhythms either. I use it in front of the amp like a TS but with higher settings just too give me more mid range grunt.

As you say its cheap and it does the job!

It's no where near as nice as a Maxon 808 or TS, but it works for the price. You would probably be better off with the bad monkey if you are going for a cheap OD though.
