...ADATs?!?! I need to know if it's possible to connect an ADAT to a sound card using ONLY a fibre optic cable & NO additional software.

logic would tell you that if your ADAT has an audio out and your soundcard has an audio in, and vice versa, you could connect them.

He's talking optical cables, i.e. DIGITAL connection. Don't speak if you don't know what you're talking about.

And yes, the FW-1804 has eight-channel optical ADAT input and outputs, as a quick Google search would have told you.

Hey dude! Thanks for your SENSIBLE reply! Yeah, I know that the Tascam has the light pipe ins & outs - I've got one! My problem is I can't get a signal through the card. I was wondering if there was something else I needed to do besides just connecting the 2 with the cable?

Hm, you'd probably have to go to your mixer/patchbay/settings program that comes with the soundcard drivers and select the optical ADAT input. I'm not actually familiar with that particular Tascam interface so I can't really help you more than that.
