Dog Fashion Disco

I think they fucking kick loads of ass. I was just listening to their latest this morning, and man does it kick all ass.

If you like them, or Mr Bungle, you should also check out Tub Ring. They are quite similar, but just a little bit better (than Dog Fashion Disco, not Mr Bungle).

I'm really not a fan.I gave them a good listen because I'm a rabid Bungle fan but their reliance on Keyboards put me off a bit.
As for Tub Ring, I quite liked their first album (Fermi Paradox?) but the second one is somewhat weak.
Both of you should check out Estradasphere and Nuclear Rabbit. The second band are just awe-inspiring.

I've heard both Estradasphere albums and I love them quite a bit. They remind me a bit more of Secret Chiefs 3 in that they are more instrumental instead of vocal based.

And also, Fermi Paradox was Tub Ring's fourth full length, after ...and the Mashed Potato Mountain Etiquette (1995), Super Sci-Fi Samurai Rockstar Ultra Turbo II (ver 3.6) (1997), and The Drake Equation (2001). But I agree, Fermi Paradox was the best. I haven't heard their first two albums, so I can't comment on them.

No shit? That was their fourth album?
Wow.
Anyway, yeah, Estradasphere are certainly more instrumental based.I think they're quite alot like Bungle's California album without Patton's sublime vocal stylings.
Have you heard Nuclear Rabbit? They're just guitar, bass, drums and vocals but with crazy changes and enjoyable songs (The Pimp, The Bitch and The Magic Beans).
Also worth noting are The Mod Flanders Conspiracy.

No, I haven't heard Nuclear Rabbit. I'll make a change of that once I get off work and have some quality time with Soulseek.

Have you heard of Ruins? They remind me of Mr Bungle, if Mr Bungle were a crazy Japanese rock band. Actually, they might remind me more of Fantomas now that I think of it... but they still kick ass. A bit hard to swallow at first, but give them a few listens and you might start to like them.

Cool.I'll check them out.
Also, regarding Nuclear Rabbit, they have three albums but the third one sucks BALLS so stay away from it.They were trying to be more "emotional" and had a different (horrible) vocalist. It's called More Human.
If possible, get some material off their second album entitled Intestinal Fortitude.

man RUINS is around from mid 80's!!!!!!!:Smug:

so mr bungle and fantomas both sounds like ruins....:hypno:

anyway tubring and dog fashion disco are mr bungle's clones no personality....

i really enjoy only estradasphere...

they are one of my favourite group....

I remember someone saying listening to Dog Fashion Disco was the aural experience of getting chased by a murderous clown with a carving knife.

I listened to two tracks ages ago and I agree! Interesting stuff.

Ruins formed in 1985, first full length in 1990.

Mr Bungle formed in 1985, first full length in 1991 (after four demos, three that explored the style the full length would follow).

Neither ripped off each other, but I think fans of Mr Bungle should like Ruins.

And Tub Ring doesn't only sound like Mr Bungle, they also sound like Faith No More and even God Lives Underwater at times. I think they definitely have their own sound.

Dog Fashion Disco sounds like a far heavier version of Mr Bungle that's just a little more tame. They also have their own sound and personality.

Yeah, both bands were influenced by Mr Bungle, but that's not a bad thing. Like Electric Wizard sound quite a lot like Black Sabbath, but that doesn't stop them from kicking ass. The Melvin's Bullhead album sounds a lot like Black Sabbath too, but it is still a legendary album from a legendary band. Bands have influences... and that's not a bad thing.

Also, Estradasphere sounds far closer to Mr Bungle / Secret Chiefs 3 than Tub Ring and Dog Fashion Disco, so shut your hypocritical ass up.

If you're going to accept Ruins III as their first full length release from 1988, then I'm going to have to suggest Mr Bungle's The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny from 1986 as an analagous first release, because both were independently released.

Stating that Mr Bungle ripped off Ruins is quite stupid, really. He may have been influenced by Japanese underground bands, but stating that Mr Bungle was influenced, especially in their early stage, by Ruins is ludicrous.

And Tub Ring's singer an ugly copy of Mike Patton... I disagree. I would say that that is the biggest difference between Tub Ring and Faith No More / Mr Bungle, he doesn't sound at all like Mike Patton. Now, Dog Fashion Disco's singer sounds like Mike Patton, that I'll agree with. But Serj from System of a Down sounds like Mike Patton, but SoaD are still a very original band.

And if you are trying to say that Bullhead doesn't sound like Black Sabbath, you are deaf. Plain and simple.
