Yet another band I've got filed in my "heard of but never heard" category. Is there a best of I can pick up on the cheap or a few tracks I can download to get me started?

(This thread is posted in anticipation of a beating from LT and Troops in return for my ignorance.)

*puts down his whacking stick for a second* HAHAHA!

I believe there's a Best Of Dokken CD out now? I'd grab that first as an introduction...

Their best albums (IMO) would be Back For The Attack and Under Lock And Key but very closely followed by Tooth And Nail and Beast From The East (live in Japan).

Run far and fast away from Shadowlife, though! Any of the "reformed" Dokken is a little dodgy, although Erase The Slate has some fine moments and awesome solos from Reb Beach!

Anything to add there, Trent? HAHA!

I think he said it all :)

There are 2 best ofs out I think, The Best of Dokken and The Very Best of Dokken, but I dunno what's on each one.

Personally I'd just start with Back For The Attack! Once your hooked on its awesomeness and craving more Dokken brilliance, then pick up Under Lock & Key!

Songs to I recommend checking out:

Dream Warriors, So Many Tears, Heaven Sent, Prisoner, Sleepless Nights (off Back For The Attack)
The Hunter, It's Not Love, In My Dreams, Unchain The Night, Will The Sun Rise (off Under Lock & Key)
Turn On The Action, Tooth & Nail (off Tooth & Nail, this stuff is glammier)

And check out Don Dokken's solo album "Up From The Ashes" too, sounds just like Dokken and would be my 3rd fave album after Back For The Attack and Under Lock & Key!

All my Dokken tapes (yes tapes) got flogged from my car.

Haven't yet gotten around to replacing them with CDs as yet.

Get one of the best-ofs, then go for the albums.

Nope wasn't at MFTB.

Haven't run into many former Canberrans up here, although I did get a buzz when I walked into a new pharmacy at the shopping centre, and the pharmacist was the guy from straight over the road from Mum and Dad's place.

(I felt like I was being stalked :eyes: )

Any 'Best Of Dokken' album would be great value.

Personally I love Erase The Slate and Dysfunctional. They'd be two of my fav's actually, even if they don't exactly represent the true Dokken vibe.

Stay away from Live At the Sun & Shadowlife. Also avoid Long Way Home unless you really really really really love Erase The Slate.
