I don't know which album you are talking about - "Her von welken Nächten" is a great CD but sometimes too simple. If you got the chance, check out "Bitter ist's dem Tod zu dienen" - incredible atmosphere and much more intense than the new stuff!!!
And incidentally, there's a Dornenreich forum on UltimateMetal. So if you're looking for more information on this band, go there...(you'll find me among other things ).
Well, "Her von welken Nächten" is certainly different from the previous albums, because it has three heavy songs at the beginning, then switches to very quiet, acoustic atmospheric pieces and returns to some sort of mixture at the end. I find it very exciting. The slow, acoustic parts of that album were played on the Tenhi/Dornenreich/Of the Wand & The Moon tour.
"Bitter ist's dem Tod zu dienen" is heavier throughout, yet you can already hear the influences that shape "Her von welken Nächten". It's an excellent melodic black metal album.
The first album "Nicht um zu sterben" is rather traditional black metal in comparison to the other two. Yet the voice and the lyrics are already stand-out (German throughout with a very high-pitched kind of screaming voice). On the latest release, Dornenreich also use a clean voice, which fits in well.
Thanks for reply Somber Soul... sure this will help!
yeah.."Nicht Um Zu Sterben" is traditional simple melodic black metal, it's not my taste... anyway,i like "Her von welken Nächten" .... especially the interlacing of acoustic and heavy riffs... and sure, i don't understand nothing in lyrics .... maybe later...
