I thought that "Train Of Thought" was a more "pissed off/stripped down" Dream Theater. "Octavarium" was more mellow in my opinion. My fave DT releases are Images & Words, Train of Thought, Awake, & the live DVD's.

it reminded me of The Glass Prison a lot.

It sounds pretty good, but I can't say i'm overly impressed. I've heard some other samples and bits that sound a bit more promising though.

As for this track, it's alright. A bit boring, though. The lead section did remind me of 'The Glass Prison'... Bah, I'm not really a fan, so it doesn't matter.

My opinion...

Gee, the band must of been listening to 80's metal when they wrote this song. Jesus, again with the wearing of the influences on your sleeve bullshit. Total shame that a band is being led by bands that have 1/10 their talent and skill.

I'm sorry, but as a fan who loves most of the bands work, and can tolerate Octavarium, this is one of the worst DT songs i've ever heard, because it doesn't feel like them at all. It feels like something their influences wrote. The weird Labrie-vocal part in the middle was cool, but that was total King Crimson.

They really need to try to have a sound of their own instead of copying and pasting influences every which way.
