Drum EQ advice needed!

ok, i'm really having a problem with weak sounding drums (mainly with the DFH2 stuff i do, but with acoustic drums when i record them as well) and i know that fllying blind when it comes to EQ'ing isn't helping me at all

now given that i know each kit is different, as are each mic, etc. so there's no golden way to get a good metal drum sound...but when it comes to the kick, snare, and toms what frequencies do you guys usually find it best to cut or boost? for something like drumkit from hell, or acoustic drums

Compressing is at least as important as eq'ing.

If "weak" sounding drums are your problem, as was stated already, compression is your friend.

try to get one instrument right at a time, once you have one nailed, move onto the next. When thats all done, see how seperated and good it sounds, then try it again.

i've got some pretty decent compression plugins, those are pretty easy to just wing it by ear...the EQ stuff i'm really having trouble with tho, i'll check out those articles
