Drum Rug

hey guys..... my brother works @ Lowes, so I get a discount there. Aside from getting a new solid-core door....I wanna get a rug for a drumset here in my studio.

Just wonder what is prefered for stopping drums from sliding all over the place?

Thick shaggy rug?
Thin rug?
indoor/outdoor rug?
Other?

Best drum rug I have had is the mat I stole from SconeCutter restaurant.

How about something close to the average drum mat I'd go for quite thin and dense.

I'm pretty sure a thick wool rug will steal some high-end from your overheads and room mics, which may make them sound a bit dead. I can't say I've ever tried different types though, that's just what my brain is telling me.

I would recomend plywood instead. Sounds great. Reflects all the drums back up to your overheads, especially the snare. Most Drum kits have the spike on the feet so it shouldn't slip at all.

Really thin dense shit. I haven't much luck with plywood and spikes, I dunno maybe I should sharpen them or something? (shit still slides around)
