Drum Sound on the Metal Church Album - The Dark (1986)

Hi!

Im a lover of this album, i really love the drum sound!!! Pure 80`s drums sound!!

Could someone tell me if the drum sounds is a sampler ( like 80`s simmons e-drums) or is a real drum????

I'm not sure what sampler would sound like that,, but you could try experimenting with compression the snare and a slow attack.

Sounds like a lot of pink noise generating the snare sound. It's totally a cockrock drum sound. Where's Oz? He probably knows the signal chain for every track, LOL.

HAHA - I think I still have this one on cassette somewhere! Loved this album, as well as Blessing In Disguise!

It's a real drum dude - they didn't have "e-kits" back then, and if they did, the sampling technology was nowhere near where it is today.

Yeah, at most the snare is side-chained to a noise generator. (Outboard hardwire, mind you.)
