I was wondering about triggers, I heard about that a lot...I know it helps a drummer playing faster and more accurate, but how does it work? Is it a device? I googled it a bit but results were kinda shitty so I'd rather ask it here

Triggers are not to play faster nor accurate in the sense of kicking/striking, triggers use is mainly to make the bass drums (and/or toms and snare) sound always the same, regardless the intensity of the drumming. Are 'sensors' who take the strikes to the console, which release them with a predesigned sound to the speakers (explaining it in a very simple way). So the triggered drums are not like 'enhanced natural drums sound', they sound with digital samples preprocessed and programmed for each drum piece. Creating a digital sound and to use it instead the real drum sound.

On Mayhem's Mediolanum... you can hear a triggered drum played not so accurate by HH (the bass drums mainly).
