I don't see why so many politicians here are so shocked about this. They say that the pictures are of absolute cruelty and violence... Geez, don't look at the news when they talk about Afghanistan, Irak, Yemen, or even Belgium... Well, in fact I think I know why they are so shocked: they don't want this to happen to them.
Like the greatest French humorist said: " Governments spend more money for Jails than for Schools... Well, it makes sense, when you're a politician, you know for a fact that you're not going back to school..."

Anyway...if someone is accused of raping a woman and you find him on a plane, without his phone...after the fact happened..... I'm forced to think he's trying to run away.
Moreover everybody knew he had this "vice".
Of course he can be innocent, but he's a very important politician accused of raping....the media have the duty of let you know it.
I don't like when a politician should be treated with gloves and, for example, a ROM accused for the same crime should be kicked in jail immediately.
When a big boss is arrested all of us are very happy and we want him in jail immediately...but it's innocent until proven guilty. It's the same situation...and the law is equal for everybody (theorically).
And you forgot a thing: he was not in jail because they think he is guilty but because they thought he could try to run away to save himself...it's called precautionary custody and it's a limited time they hold you in jail so that you can't hide the proofs or run away. And if a man is so important, the power of hiding something is very high.
