Earth Overshoot Day, this weekend

I don't buy this at all, and the site offers zero evidence to back it up? Are they seriously suggesting that the Earth defines it's production quota based on our calendar year? From what I gather from that site, they're saying that "we're fucked, supply wise, after August 21st, but only for the year 2010! After January 1st, it resets and we're fine again until we deplete it."

Sorry, that's not how things work in the real world.

They're just saying that yesterday (yeah, I guess it's maybe not THAT exact day, but anyway) we consumed more raw material than we will produce this year.
In the 60s I think humanity didn't even consumed half of it's annual raw material production.

From what I gather from that site, they're saying that "we're fucked, supply wise, after August 21st, but only for the year 2010! After January 1st, it resets and we're fine again until we deplete it."

If it was like this, we'd really be fucked :D
