Would anyone here with a music project be interested in being on 'Elfbark Media Vol 1'?

It will be a various artists CD with songs composed specifically for the release. Currently on the bill are - Myself, Nightshadows Lament, Angel Immortal and Persistence In Mourning.

Cheers,
Shaun / Korsrol.

I may be interested with my solo stuff, Kinda. The drummer of Shroud, Dan will be playing drums, so it's not totally a "solo" project but either way, when will this be out? We have nothing recorded, but could do something soon if there is time for us to prepare.

There will be no deadline but i'd like it to be out june/july/august. Oviously if someones fucking about then they'll be told to f'off lol.
Afew people have been asking about ownership rights of the songs - this hasnt been sorted yet - i dont know weather to release the CD on behalf of bands or claim ownership. Lots of pitfalls for both arguments!

Do you mean publishers rights?
I wouldn't really be down with giving those up, especially for a comp. However, it depends on how that's worked out contractually. And you would need a lawyer and it's a lot of work on your end.

Exatly, but then I dont want to end up paying royalties because a band decided to put the song on a later album.

TBH releasing the songs on behalf of the bands is looking the winner

I went and looked into Creative Commons License but it appears it can't be used for commercial purposes. I think that one gives the distributor the right to distribute it but owner retains copyright, etc...

What kind of music you looking to put out on this compilation? Strictly metal stuff or other genres?

Mike

Other genres, I'm putting a drone song on prob. And owership will stay with artist.

Hi, ok. I'd be interested in getting at least a Darkened Soul track on there and possibly Mired In Twilight too if I have something done in the near future (started working on material again recently). DS is dark ambient, MIT is more martial/dark ambient (at least that's the vein I am moving in for it). What format are you going to want the files in? I would assume Wave in case you want or need to adjust volume levels to have the tracks all be of similar levels? And are you looking at time constraints with regards to song lengths? The more details the better.

Mike

Wave yes, incase some things need altering. Oviously I wont re-master peoples tracks (unless they want me to). As for time anything upto 10 min would be ok. I'll be posting a graphic of the booklet sometime next week hopefully.
