Eddie's Archive

I just went and bought it from Utopia, paid 149.99!

Ill take some photos and post them tonight if anyone wants to see whats inside and all that crap?

I also picked up the new Symphony X cd, and the new LA Guns one, plus admired the gothic woman behind the counter.

You could do that, or I could just look at mine :)

$155 at JB HiFi.

I didn't buy anything else, unless you count a battery charger, but that's not as interesting and doesn't make as much noise. (Hopefully. I haven't plugged it in yet.)

I just got home from buying it - cost $175.00 :( Brisbane folks, if you can't find it anywhere go to Skinny's - it's the only place I could find it (although I didn't look far - JB was the only other shop I went to!). HMV are selling it on their website for $189.95 so at least I made *some* sort of saving!

Looks fantastic - you get a shotglass and a scroll family tree thing with a ring around it - too big to wear around my finger though (cue jokes about wearing the ring somewhere else!). AND each CD has big thick booklets! Maiden have finally come through for us big time after a long drought!

Also picked up the new Opeth one, but who cares about that?

It's in a plain, brown cardboard box. Kinda like how Koich buys his magazines. It'd be easy to overlook if you weren't specifically looking for a box about that size specifically in the box set section.

However it does have a sticker on it saying what is is.

At the shop I bought it at they had a) a thing in the Maiden section advertising it, and b) the thing on display behind the counter. Then I asked the chap for it and he went out the back and got the brown cardboard box for me, complete with sticker. :)

I havent broken the brown box seal yet, is mine worth more if I just leave it sitting on the shelf like that?

(BTW this Symphony X albums rocks! They wank without being wankers!)

Great stuff so far! Not sure if it's worth $175 yet, only halfway through the first disc of the BBC disc so far.

Ooh, there's two versions of 22 Acacia Avenue. This thing just became worth buying!

Me, I'm straight into the B-Sides. They're great without all that crack and hiss that my turntable injects into the recordings. I can't recognise some of them. Well, that's a lie, but they're heaps better.

Because I'm bored, let's make a tally of the songs. Not all of them, just the ones on the BBC Archives and Beast Over Hammersmith CDs, and any songs on the B-sides one that are also on the live ones.

22 Acacia Avenue - 2
Another Life - 1
Children of the Damned - 2
Drifter - 1
Hallowed Be Thy Name - 3
Infinite Dreams - 1
Iron Maiden - 5
Killers - 2
Moonchild - 1
Murders in the Rue Morgue - 1
Number of the Beast - 3
Phantom of the Opera - 2
Prowler - 3
The Prisoner - 2
Remember Tomorrow - 2
Run to the Hills - 2
Running Free - 3
Sanctuary - 2
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - 1
Total Eclipse - 1
Transylvania - 4
The Trooper - 1
Wrathchild - 3

There, that killed a few minutes.
