Edge of Sanity Demo Question

Hi,

Apparently three Eos demos were released in 1993: The Spectral Sorrows Demo which contains "Darkday", "Lost", and 6 other tracks, the Darkday demo, which contains only "Darkday", and the Lost demo, which contains "Lost" and "Before I Close My Eyes Forever".

Now, my question is: Is "Darkday" from the Darkday Demo the same version as on the Spectral Sorrows demo, or are there two different demo versions of "Darkday"? The same question applies to "Lost" (I'm aware that there's a 1992 demo version of "Lost" which is clearly different).

Any ideas why three different demos were released?

I'm pretty sure those weren't released but Dan uploaded them to his website back in the days and probably just gave them names he thought fit them and then somebody added those to Metal-Archives.

The Darkday "demo" sounds the same but has a cool intro added to the beginning of the song.
The Lost "demo" sounds the same.
Before I Close My Eyes Forever belongs to Route Nine and not EoS.

I may point out that I might be completely wrong but I hope this helps you a little at least. :)

Regarding "Before I Close My Eyes Forever": My interpretation was that Dan wrote this song initially for Edge of Sanity, and when it wasn't used, he released it as Route Nine song. (Didn't this also happen with "Uncreation"? At least there is an EoS version of this song.) But this is only speculation, you may very well be right and there never were separate demo releases for "Lost" and "Darkday".

Before I close me eyes....was never an EOS song. I was tailor made for R9. Bits of Uncreation was in a song that I wanted to use for "my" Edge Of Sanity. Later on that didn't happen and the material for "Moontower" was a bit less "deathy" so I "saved" the uptempo stuff for Crimson II. There is a great intro for that old Uncreation version that I will use for Witherscape. It sounded a bit too much alike the intro for "In empty phrases" to use on the same album..But now, some 12 years later...it should be cool ;)

I've always really loved that intro. I'd listen to that demo for the clean guitar intro alone, haha.
