Empires of Eden - Reborn in Fire

Ripper has a high end, but everything he does is same old same old. His lower range sucks, but what hes good at he is phenominal!
Sheepers is the same...his lower & mid ranges are awesome, but his highest is fucking annoying sometimes.
Comparing Peck to either of these singers is a joke. He doesn't have the longevity, he hasn't put out a truly great disc yet, and he acts like a total ass clown onstage

Latest Cage disks decimate any recent Priest disk. However Painkiller kills any Cage disk because of songwriting alone. After that Cage murders Priest BADLY haha!

I dig Cage as much as the next guy - well, obviously not as much as you - but that statement is absurd. Either Angel of Retribution or Nostradamus are better than the best Cage album. Again, the original > the imitator.

oh well we disagree. Nostradamus has some good songs but has a production you expect of a garage band. This you cannot deny. The production is truly awful. AoR has much better sound and about 3-4 good solid classic Priest songs and is ok but still completely fails next to Painkiller. Anyway I don't cpnsider Cage a Priest copy or impersonator at all. Sure they have elements of the style but the music is in general much heavier and can be way way faster on some tracks. Unveiled and Astrology their first two disks are merely ok but the productions let them down. From Darker than Black through to Hell Destroyer and Science of Annihilation, Cage rip hard. I will take any of the three over any Priest however I repeat Painkiller trounces any Cage disk to make sure you understand that I am not biased or being silly or absurd as you put it.

And here I thought I was ending this conversation. I'm honestly astounded by that statement. Angel of Retribution and Nostradamus are such superior discs than anything Cage has done. Don't get me wrong, I think Cage are good, but they're nothing special in my book. They are no where near the top of the genre in terms of quality output, which is exactly where Priest is.

Why end it? Let's argue until we are blue in the face. :)

Can you explain the terrible production on Nostradamus please? This alone makes it rank below Cage. Plus it's just too much music to handle. One long cd would have been enough. I like some of the songs but they would fit on one cd no sweat. I find Cage to be more invogorating, more energised, more focused, more powerful, just more of everything. Only thing Priest have more of is AGE! Sorry maybe I am being a dickhead but Priest is a band so old and tired now that a youngish band like Cage with men around their 30s and 40s runs rings round a band in their late 50s and 60s. Halford is a metal god and I'm gonna repeat this one more time, Cage would dream to write a record as good as Painkiller, but since then Priest have never been able to recapture the sheer songwriting ability and melodies on that record. Sure Cage remains a pretty much unknown band. You ask the average Priest concert goer if they've heard of Cage, they'll say who?? But when they listen to a track like this they might soon see the error of their ways.

We'll have to agree to disagree here as most likely we could argue about this until the end of time. I can understand though how some people do not like how long Nostradamus was. I get that. Honestly, the production wasn't that bad to my ears and fit the music. I still find Priest's songwriting to be much better though. I have three of Cage's albums but a number of their tunes to me sound too alike. Now, if we're talking live performance, I could see where you might have an argument since they are younger and more energetic on stage.

NOSTRADAMUS is excellent IMO, it is a grower though, you need to be in the mood for it and take some time to really get into it.

So not to totally hijack the thread, Empires Of Eden sounds very cool from what I've heard, worth it just for Michael Vescera's inclusion as far as I'm concerned...

Comparing Cage to Judas Priest is pretty hilarious if you ask me. But even funnier is to bring up Nostradamous, which is not one of Priests best efforts besides the fact that they are pushing 60 yrs old. If you're going to compare, at least be unbiased. Its like comparing before and after pics of a hot chicks boob job. Most usually the bigger tits are gonna be more popular.Judas Priest has bigger tits. It doesn't mean that Cage's tits aren't nice, but the preference leans to the big'guns

Does Cage have a "Sad Wings of Destiny"? No, I didn't think so.
Does Cage have a "Stained Class"? Nope, not even close
Does Cage have a "British Steel"? Another solid NO.
Does Cage have a "Screaming For Vengeance"?
How about a "Hell Bent For Leather"?
Point of Entry? Place jokes here...

I would compare the best Cage with Jugulator & other Ripper Owens material. Very good, but nowhere near as classy & classic.
