Hey all, I am just getting into recording on a beginner level and the Emu 1616M PCI looks like a solid start.

What is everyones take on it?
Does it get good results?

I'm looking to record my own projects only really and going from there.

I originally have The Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music card, with the front dock attachment with the 1/4'' jack and it gave me, meh results with recording music but i'm taking a guess and saying this is a huge step up from that.

Thanks guys!

well if you got this, and you planned on recording drums you would need to get an adat digital preamp aswell, or at least some preamps for the line ins.

my suggestion is to get a firepod (fp10) especially if your just starting out its around the same price, but has 8 pres and spidif expandability.

i really wouldnt get the emu pci deal if i was you.

i guess it would be good if you don`t need more inputs for now, cause you could expand with an adat pre later, and the converters look pretty swell on it.

hard call bro. depends on your needs. i would opt to get a fp and practice getting good drum recordings rather than using ez drummer

if you plan on using a pod xt and ez drummer maybe the emu is the way to go. (generalization)
