Need some feedback/advice on this clip. Any comments are welcome please.

The guitars have a really phased out and muted tone to them...which I'm actually digging. The first part of the song (not intro) doesn't work the overall tone, but the second half sounds really cool if you could crank the volume on the solo.

How much did it cost you to make your custom 2x12?

updated (same link) minor change to 3k to try to get rid of that hollowness you said it had.

OK, any suggestions to fix it?

I will try re micing the cab and try new head settings to see if that help add definition.

Didn't use the Fireball on this clip.

57 was about half inch from grill (cab has a 3/4" baffle rear mounted).

Speaker was an English Celestion Vintage 30

Used a Waves SSL EQ all narrow Q settings bumped 4k a bit cut 7k cut 520Hz HP at 75Hz LP at 11.5k.

On the buss I also added a touch of compression to the guitars probably active only about 2db of gain reduction. It seems to help keep it controlled, maybe I shouldn't use it?

I'll try to get raw tracks up sometime soon. Maybe tomorrow.

Thanks

Didn't use the Fireball on this clip.

Well then you shouldn't have posted this threadd with this "Invader 150/Fireball" title and say left side is fireball and right side is invader. It got most of us wrong i guess.

Though it doesn't explain why you get such a tone.

I'm looking forward to hear the raw tracks because considering what you said about your signal chain, this setup is supposed to give a great tone.

that's why i am posting here for help... i am obviously doing something wrong... just try to figure out why. I originally did have the fireball on the first clip then when I updated the clip I took the Fireball out and I couldn't change the name of the thread. I removed Fireball at the top of the posting near the link. Sorry about that.

that's why i am posting here for help... i am obviously doing something wrong... just try to figure out why. If you look at the top of my thread i deleted the fire ball out couldn't change the thread name. sorry

Not sure you did :

"Signal:
Custom 7 baritone (30") w/ Lundgren M7's
Tubescreamer TS-9
ISP Decimator
Right Invader 150
Left Fireball
Vintage 30"

Post the raw tracks and then we can help you.

BUSTED!

Sorry I'll take that out right away!

Thanks.

I should be able to get something posted tonight. I'll try to get some pictures too.

Raw track from earlier in the song.

I am thinking it has to be either the cab or the speaker. It does have a bit more floppy low mids than other V30's I have heard in the past. I also want to try another 57 because I have never tried a different one. The cab I built maybe be too small to get the proper resonance I am looking for. Maybe I should build a 4x12?
