Between this and the new Delain, I'm rather screwed when it comes to car trips.

Are you saying you and Jen have 'slightly' divergent tastes????:)

Me - I will be all over the Epica release (though I hope they tack back towards the albums prior to 'Requiem' as that album did not grab me like all the prior releases). Delain - not so much - but as I will be seeing them as part of the Sonata Arctica tour will probably pick up their latest album.

I just got into these guys with their last release and really liked it because it was heavier than I thought... should I check out any other albums of theirs?

From the 2009 Design Your Universe:

I am, admittedly, not an Epica fan. But that song kicks ass. And in general they are heavier than you might expect given the lady on all their promo materials.

I received my cd and shirt yesterday from Nuclear Blast!

So far I am loving the album. It seems to be a little catchier than the last album without sacrificing the bombastic orchestration. Not sure if this album will win over anyone that has not liked their music previously. But if you have been a fan of any of their last couple, I would highly recommend picking this up,

I'm not the biggest Epica fan.....but this cd is really good. BTW, for those of you deciding where to order. I ordered the 2cd edition via Amazon. You get a bonus track, "In All Conscience". You also get to stream for free via Amazon's Cloud....and get to download it for free. What's awesome is that the bonus track is different when you download it from the Cloud.....you get the iTunes bonus track "Banish Your Illusion". Getting a bonus, bonus track....awesome!!
