Im careful with my instruments and amps but i don't breakdown and cry if i accendentely scratch them. But something that really annoys me is when you rig, carry equipment etc and people (that isn't the owner)don't handle it careful.

Voted the first option as my tour gear's been through the wars. However, if something happened to some of my private 'at home' guitars I'd flip.

The only time it really bothers me is when it's the very first scratch on an otherwise perfect piece of gear. Like the time my brand new EC-1000 Deluxe slid over and knocked a small chunk out of the headstock. That made me die a little inside.

This. Once the first scratch is done, it no longer matters. But that first one hurts. :)

I take great care of my gear, but anything that's used regularly will eventually get scratched, especially if you ever plan on gigging (let alone touring) with it. If it's to be used on tour, anything you would mind putting gaff tape on should be left at home.

Scratches are battle scars. The first one hurts but then it's like, bring it on! I take care of my gear but if someone else damages my gear, I switch to Hitler.

My studio gear, especially amplifiers, are all dead mint. I'd flip a fucking shit if something got scratched or dented.

However, guitars I don't mind as much about; they're going to get thrown around a bit.

I'm like this too. I hate when other people handle my stuff and they don't pay attention to it because "its not theirs" or because they themselves don't take care of their own gear. I can become a little OCD when it comes to my personal stuff, i spend a good deal of time making sure my stuff stays clean. However, if stuff gets dinged or scratched during normal use, oh well, it's normal wear and tear and it won't bug me unless it affects the performance of the gear in question.

With my gigging rig, i fully expect it to become battered during use and is why buy my stuff accordingly, knowing it won't stay mint condition. I actually don't mind ym guitar, pedals, amp, etc getting a little beat up. Like Jeff said, anything i don't want damaged stays home.

Rack rash I don't much mind, but guitars have to be perty.

I'm super crazy paranoid about hurting other peoples kit, where as mine, i try not to fuck it up, but if i do, then so be it.

Not too bothered about scratches as long as the gear still functions perfectly. I'm pretty careful with my gear with knobs and not knocking it around and making sure it's all set up correctly.
I hate when other people handle my equipment though, they never treat it right. Even my housemate who's also a sound engineer is always putting boxes on top of my mics, cables and loose rack gear. Bugs me to no end, there's a load of scratches in my stuff that I didn't do.

Some people are very rough with gear. I've a few mates that are always breaking stuff and blaming it on bad luck. Bull shit, they're too rough with their gear and it breaks. Simple as!

I think it looks badass. Not that I go scratching my stuff on purpose, but I don´t care when it happens. +1 to battle scars.

When it comes to visually damaging my gear (bumps and scratches), the first ones are really, really hurting me bad. But as they come, I tend to let go and like them. I feel like I'm a gear-masochist.

I try to keep everything scratch free. I keep all the boxes, manuals etc all mint. It makes a huge difference when comes to ebay time. I'm never happy about scratches.
