in the solo i just noticed Romeo uses that crazy ass chromatic lick that he used in dawn of a million soles for ayreon or whatever. just thought that was interesting.

I know which part you're speaking of, man. It's pretty damn sweet... Is he picking each note, hammering on, or just sliding? (I'm a damn drummer, lol) Either or, it's awesome.

EDIT: I also love when the riff that is used for the verse first rips in. Such a killer groove!

It's not picking, because there's no extraneous attack from the pick. I'm thinking that it's a combination of sliding, legato and pulling up on the whammy bar.

i'm pretty sure the whole lick is just legato with tapping, maybe some legato slides too, but i don't think there is any whammy.

It's a slide, in time so it's like 16th notes. He starts out doing legato, then goes into the slide, then does some scalar stuff out of it. One of the coolest licks ever.

Sounds to me like he's just sliding with the pick instead of his finger. He might also be bending his finger over so he can use his fingernail. I dunno, I play it either way and it sounds pretty close.
