ever hear an ultra120 the old one

iv owned this head for years now and it suits me fine but i was wondering if anyone else has ever used this peavy for metal, its definately got the low end and movement of air . if anyone has ever played w/this amp let me know

I don't own one, but I've heard really good things about it for metal. In fact, I was actually thinking about getting the Ultra 60 watt combo on Ebay for a small practice amp.

The other guitarist in my band used to use one, and my Dual Rec put it to shame. It was nice for what it was, but it left a lot to be desired.

Funny..... comparing a Boogie to an old Peavey, may as well race a honda Civic against a souped up 200k sports car.

I love the road king w/the green maxon od in front w/all the tubes going. I do however like the sound of my amp as well w/my tubescreamer ....the only thing i dont care for is the mid controll ,its way too harsh and sensitive ...it also lacks a resonance switch, but other than that its a solid head

Actually, the Peavey Ultra, Triple XXX, and JSX are nearly identical in the preamp section. Peavey has gotten good over the years at repackaging the same amp and selling it as somehting "new." It's not the same exact amp, but it's pretty damn close.
