long hair is nothing. try looking like a skinhead with 75% of your body covered in tattoos, with various piercings. I do know and can relay this to others. If you have a metal belt buckle, take it off and put it in your carry on while you go thru metal detector as it saves time.:Spin:

I had no problems getting through security... long hair and all. I fly several times a year, and have not really had any problems with being "randomly" selected...
