when I hear constant white noisy top frequencies it's instant NO for me.
For me it's like replacing something musical with noise.

could you tell how i might get away from this effect? should i low pass further? the only eq on the guitars is a hp70/lp10k. its possible its the limiter i used on the master buss thats adding the distortion.

just for anyone curious who has the same issue with there being too much hiss on the guitar, i believe the issue is that i have the gain fairly cranked on my preamp (i'm recording in an upstairs apartment) so i have to play with the volume under 1.5 without blowing up the neighbors. maybe with some better preamps or a torpedo and maybe even something like a cloudlifter? i might be able to get a cleaner signal at lower volumes.

Most cases it's because of too much gain and micing (tube screamer could help there too). But Also pickups could be involved.
Most cases if I hear that noise I better have less gain than hear that nasty noise.

i reduce the presence knob with good results. 3-3.5. and for sure the right mic pos. is the key

next time i mic it up ill shoot for less presence, i have it somewhat higher than usual right now.

yeah its my interface preamp then, i have the gain cranked on it.
