EvilDarknessTour (Lullacry,Leaves eyes, Elis, Kamalot)

First, I didn't see Kamelot on the website as confirmed.

Second, Leave's Eyes is listed as one of the three headliners. WTF?

Third, the venues are fucking arenas! Phillips Arena in Atlanta is the same place that Paul McCartney just played at. It's 20,000+. Who in the hell is going to headline this tour? I mean Gigantour couldn't even draw 3,000 on the majority of their stops at smaller venues.

Bingo.

OK...I just read through their forum a bit.

They have a verbal agreement with Kamelot (no signed contract).
They have approached Epica.
Within Temptation and Lacuna Coil are potential headliners.
The promoters are basically open to telling the public anything in terms of negotiations. That's cool..yet I would never do it.

The roster sounds great. However....ARENAS????

Ozzfest couldn't fill up some of those venues that are *confirmed.*

I am in awe of the balls of the promoter.

I saw that they have 3 potential Florida dates and I can not see the Tampa show drawing more than 2,000. I think the promoter may be just a tad bit over-ambitious here. That said, I wish them the best, even though I'm not a fan of most of the bands, or potential bands, announced - I would love to see it succeed.

Get rid of the arena venues. Make it a summer outdoor festival. It can be the metal version of Lilith Fair if they stick with the girl bands setup. Move Leaves' Eyes to a supporter and get some real headliners. Sadly, if they want this to be successful more than like Evanescence and Lacuna Coil will both have to be on the bill. They're still going to have a majorly hard time getting numbers since most bands in this genre share the same fanbase which really isn't that large to begin with. Evanescence is the only one with mainstream appeal. Lacuna Coil gained a nice fanbase with Ozzfest that could help but that much. Nice to have high expectations but making yourself majorly in debt isn't going to help. 3 shows in Florida is like shooting yourself in the foot. Texas and California are both larger states and each only have 2 shows. Meanwhile they've only got 2 shows in all of the northeast and none of those in what is an actual New England state. And they're looking for more stop suggestions? Cut back on the stops. If the bands are worth it, people WILL travel. Better to have 15 well attended shows than 30 half assed.

It also seems like a whole lot of names are being thrown around. Some that they've simply just tried to contact their tour managers who haven't even replied yet. People don't bother to look at the important aspect and already think it's a sure thing.

Edit: The sadly part was about Evanescence. I love Lacuna Coil but I see them all the time. They love touring New England.

Seriously, This is going ot be a very sad festival. I'll most likely be going to the MSG date ot lend some support, but seriously, this is too mcuh too quick. As Glenny said, Ozzfest couldnt sell out those venues with OZzy and Iron Maiden, plus the hot topic allstars. I bet they could sell out the first 10 rows of MSG, on the floor.

True.. Although I even doubt that.. considering that MSG is a VERY EXPENSIVE PLACE to hold a show at and they'd have to charge an absurd price for tickets....

Also... 12 bands? What's going to happen? Thing gonna start at noon? Most arenas don't have two usable stages.
First band gets 15 minutes? 20 min change over for next band.
All 8 supporting get 30 min? 20-30 min setups for those bands.
3 Headliners get 90 min? At LEAST 30 min between each of those bands.
525 minutes for the bands. Give a 25 minute average for changeover between bands. 275 min there. 800 total. 13.3 hrs.
And most festivals I've been to, you're lucky to get 30 minute setups so I'm being very generous on that. For all the people complaining about Strato & Angra taking so long, try going to a festival with 5 bands total where the supporting bands each take an hr.
They need to cut back on a few supporting bands if they don't have two stages, me thinks.
And please... If you get Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, & Kamelot to sign on officially. You're still going to have Leaves' Eyes as a headliner? So 4 headliners now?

The sad thing is I want this tour to succeed but they're making it impossible to feel like there's any chance of it right now.

These guys must be on crack. Taken from a thread asking about the interest of Evil Darkness hacky-sacks, this is a direct post from one of the moderators:

I would figure in the least, it could be a clever way of promotion, lets say a street team member sees some people who they think might fit the description of those who would enjoy the tour, and they just happen to be hacky sacking, just throw it their way and walk away... it would have the name and web address on it.

........................ yea, because the chances of seeing metal kids outside (period, let alone playing hacky sack), will REALLY increase ticket sales, thus justifying 20,000 seat venues.

Anyone have any clue the size of the Oktoberhallen? It's the venue for the Metal Female Voices Fest 3. Just curious because that's essentially what this tour will be. But that's a once a year event that people will travel from all over to see (just like PPUSA here).
It seems like these people are all brainwashed and think this is going to succeed immensly (or at least don't care that people are going to get hugely in debt and the bands that have never been to to the US will not have a good experience so that they'll think twice about a real US tour, in the end, just screwing fans over).

You guys are underestimating the power of a sponsorship from Komodo Dragon Records:

http://www.komododragonrecords.com/

In all seriousness, the Evil Darkness web site seems to think they will sell out everywhere, judging from the following comment on their "Sponsors & Dealers" page:

"Interested in reaching more than 400,000 possible customers physically, with an average of 20,000 consumers at more than 21 stops accross the Country and 2 specialty stops, reaching more than 100,000 people."

That's a shit-load of hackey sacks right there...

Unless they plan on getting Evanescence...

I am in awe of the balls of the promoter

C'mon Glenn, do next year's ProgPower at the Georgia Dome.

Actually, I am curious as to how many tickets you'd sell these days if there was no limit.

You missed the * following Lacuna Coil's name on the web site, and the note it referred to on the bottom of that page:

Lacuna Coil* - Christina Scabbia will be performing all shows in only a thong.

That being the case, I suspect they'll sell out MSG in 5 minutes.

Applying logic, there are only two possibilities:

1. Drugs are involved.

2. The promoter is involved with the us record industry, and they are about to unleash the "next big thing."
