i dont think its funny, i think its funny that the guy above thought the pick transient was aligned with the peak.

if you zoom in on the DI track (visually amplify the amplitude), you'll see where the pick actually begins (1 ms ISH before the peak)

in the exact example you posted, the left looks more accurate, but in the wave form below the di track, you have some sound missing from the beginning of the note.

...that WAS my opinion. Try which sounds the best. I usually try to make the musicians to actually play right on to the click so I don't have to do any editing

I agree. And sometimes playing a little ahead or behind is the desired sound for a section anyway. At the end of the day are you really going to move every guitar note that looks wrong?

You gotta go with what sounds right, rather than what looks spot on note for note with the click. Naturally you can play slighty behind or ahead of the click and it'll sound OK.

Maybe a little shuffle here and there in DESPERATE situations?

Semi off-topic: Quad tracking can get a bit messy sometimes, but as long as it sounds tight with everything else and you are happy with the results then it's all good IMO.
